ENGLISH VERSION: Provocative act in the ROAC’s Synodal Church of the Iveron Mother of God in Suzdal: an unknown man threatened the Church with new repressions and its First Hierarch with death
New threats on the part of the adepts of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate were voiced on March 13 in the Synodal Church of the Iveron Mother of God of the Russian Orthodox Autonomous Church (ROAC) in Suzdal. According to the correspondent of "Portal-Credo.Ru", the threats came from a young man who introduced himself as Maxim saying that he was born in 1983. He came to the church building with a girl saying that he wanted to bow to the relics of the Saints Euphymios and Euphrosynia of Suzdal.
As is known, starting from 2012 the Territorial Administration of the Agency for Management of Russian State Property (Rosimushchestvo) of Vladimir Region is trying to confiscate the relics of these Saints. At present, after the entry of the relevant decision of Suzdal District Court, the court bailiffs are expected to come to the church.
Contrary to the declared purpose of his visit, the young man started to harshly and aggressively violate the religious feelings of the faithful who were present in the temple saying that ROAC is "not grace-filled" and that Metropolitan Valentin (Rusantsov), its late former First Hierarch, is "burning in hell". Maxim also called Metropolitan Theodore, ROAC’s present First Hierarch, who was also in the temple "an heretic and a schismatic". In response to the request to give a canonical justification of his words he referred to a lack of canonical knowledge.
Speaking to Metropolitan Theodore, Maxim suddenly exclaimed: "Repent before you die!". In the general context of the cross-talk this was perceived by the faithful present in the temple as a death threat to the First Hierarch of ROAC.
Refusing to disclose his authority to speak and his sources of information, Maxim "warned" the leadership of ROAC of the initiation of criminal case against the Church and Metropolitan Theodore due to a "refusal" to transfer the relics of the Saints Euphymios and Euphrosynia of Suzdal to the Russian Federation, although the respective court decision has not yet entered the execution stage. While aggressively making these statements the young man said that he was acting on behalf the Moscow Patriarchate.
